DeltaNetworks Backbone - DeltaNetworks strives to
provide a companies, factories and organizations network backbone that meets the needs
of its business today and for several years beyond.
- The campus backbone is
Ten Gigabit Ethernet that allows the use of voice,
video, and data.
*Redundancy - The backbone has redundant
links, backup power supplies, and backup servers
which fail-over in the event of trouble. While not
totally seamless, it does allow for a quick recovery
in the event of broken cable, electrical failure, or
equipment failure.
*Integrity - Through the use of additional
bandwidth, redundancy, better documentation, and
vendor support, the network is very reliable and
stable. This allows for unprecedented growth in the
number of users and in the complexity of
applications using the network.
Security on the Network Perimeter -The
DeltaNetworks firewall plays a major role in information
security. It is important that this appliance restrict
access to the protected side of the network as much as
possible. Publically accessible services including Web
access and FTP are provided outside the firewall from
the
demilitarized zone (DMZ) only. Exceptions must
ensure security and be approved by DeltaNetworks and the
Information Security Office.
Only DeltaNetworks managed internal firewalls will be
allowed to securely connect subnet virtual local area
networks (VLANs) within the DeltaNetworks. The use of
personal/server host-based firewall products is
encouraged.
All users of the DeltaNetworks must adhere to the
Network Access Policy.
Desktop Connectivity - Each user has a 10Base-T
or 100Base-T unshielded twisted pair (UTP) line that
connects their desktop device to a switched Ethernet
port.
Desktop Network Configuration - There are several
parameters that must be set on each desktop to
successfully utilize the services offered by the
network. Our campus uses
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to
configure most desktops. Those devices that can not be
configured for DHCP may be assigned a static IP address.
Wide Area Network (WAN) - DeltaNetworks provides
WAN connectivity to remote sites throughout Egypt and
Saudi Arabia Services include
support for voice, video, and data.
